Neruta is six years old, in the Nursery class, and is thankful for people who are willing to help her. She is a doll of a child and one of the youngest and tiniest at the hostel. She can be spotted easily with her red puff jacket and red sweats which she wears every day, peeking from the corners of the courtyard at the other children. Though shy in nature and seemingly always on the verge of tears, she is actually a joyful child who will come to life at the sight of crayons, stickers and puzzles. She rarely speaks, tending to hide behind objects, and will whisper answers to questions if prompted.
She has been at the hostel for eight months, coming from the village of Thehe. At home she has a mother and father who are both farmers, two older brothers and one younger brother. Her favorite color is brown, her favorite animal is a cow, and her favorite activity is dancing. Neruta’s favorite subject is English and she wants to be an English teacher when she grows up.
