NCF believes that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and our organization focuses our efforts on educating girls from rural areas. Empowering girls through proper nutrition, bi-lingual schooling, health information and services spurs strong physical, social and economic growth in their communities, leading to transformational changes for the girls and their families, society and future generations.
Since 2009, we have rented a house in Simikot to function as the hostel and have been supporting girls from the Thehe village to attend school in Simikot. The girls are inspiring – they are intelligent and highly motivated. We have since purchased land and constructed a permanent building to be the Girls’ Hostel and School. This new building was completed in 2012 and we are looking forward to developing the vegetable gardens and greenhouse for long term growth.
Kathmandu Girls’ Hostel is higher education for our girls from Simikot School. The girls’ hostel in Kathmandu will expand opportunities for rural adolescent girls to attend secondary school, equipping them to be entrepreneurs, workers and managers in the rural economy and beyond.
